Polystyrene plastic properties
Leave a message
The structural formula of polystyrene is a linear structure, but there are huge phenyl groups with continuous intervals on the carbon atoms of the molecular chain, which determines the special properties of polystyrene.
1. The texture is rigid and the impact strength is low; the random configuration of polystyrene has good gloss, high light transmittance and good colorability.
2. The softening temperature is 80°C. Below 80°C, it is a solid as hard as glass. When it is above 80°C, it becomes a softer object with properties similar to rubber. Avoid using it at high temperatures.
3. Good molding performance, small shrinkage and deformation of the finished product within the operating temperature range, stable size; good water resistance, chemical stability decreases with the increase of temperature; for certain concentrations of inorganic acids, organic acids, salt solutions and alkalis , alcohols, vegetable oils, etc. have good resistance, long-term storage in sunlight will gradually turn yellow, devitrify and crack.
4. In contact with oils and insect repellants, cracking, discoloration and sticky melting are often seen, and they are prone to aging and yellowing under the action of light, oxygen and heat.
5. It is easily soluble in chloroform, dichloromethane, toluene, butyl acetate and other organic solvents. Avoid contact with the above solvents during storage.
