Sensory identification
1. Look
First look at the color and transparency of the product.
Transparent products are: polystyrene and plexiglass.
Translucent products are: low density polyethylene, cellulosic plastics, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, epoxy resin, unsaturated resin.
Opaque products are: high-density polyethylene, polyurethane and various colored plastics.
2. Listen
When hitting with a hard object, the sound is different, polystyrene is like metal sound, and plexiglass has a thicker and duller sound.
3. Touch
If the product feels waxy when touched by hand, it must be a polyolefin material. Secondly, the degree of softness and hardness of the mold can be simply expressed as follows:
Hard → Soft
polystyrene→polypropylene→polyamide→plexiglass→high density polyethylene→rigid PVC→low density polyethylene→soft PVC
Then test the surface hardness, scratch the surface with different hardness pencils, you can make a difference:
Polyethylene plastic Line marks can be drawn with HB pencil;
Polypropylene plastic Line marks can be drawn with ZH pencils.
Due to the differences in people's physiological conditions, the senses obtained by sensory identification are not the same, so this method is only for reference.
